Roger Williams, Consultant for Franklin Laboratory
Roger is a long-time programmer from the 80's (e.g. PL/I). He did consulting engagements in the early 90's among other things writing plug-ins for Excel under Windows 3.1. For 10 years, he was a development programmer at IBM Almaden Research.
He got the collaboration bug in 2000 putting up a system for a non-profit in East Palo Alto (www.epa.net) using an open-source platform based on the scripting language TCL and Oracle 8i. In 2003, he saw the previous SharePoint version + .Net 2.0 and decided to start doing consulting with it. Most of his friends and colleagues had never heard of SharePoint and thought he was crazy.
At least they have heard of it now. Over the last 3+ years he has been heavily involved in large projects for several industries including management consulting, biomedical research, hospital systems management, online brokerage and big pharma.
